Originally from eastern Kentucky, Dr. Shana Hughes moved to the area after meeting and marrying her husband, Jason, in 2004. The couple met while showing horses. Two things have remained the same for Dr. Hughes all these years later- Jason and horses. The couple share a son, Otis & a pink farmhouse.
In 2011, she graduated from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Soon after, she opened her own practice, founding The Tooth Booth in 2012. Dr. Hughes continued her education with the completion of a mini-residency in Implantology in 2017 at the University of Kentucky, and has completed countless hours of continued education in facial aesthetics (starting in 2013) by training with some of the best injectors from all over the world. Since 2018, she has been training other medical professionals in facial aesthetics being named 2021 Instructor of the Year for facial aesthetics (Botox + fillers) by her peers.
Coffee and Chick-fil-A diet lemonade are the only things that keep her 'hydrated,' and you can always find a jar of Nutella in her locker. Dr. Hughes enjoys taking trips to her favorite city (NYC), roller skating, a good bingo hall, long baths, true crime podcasts, and classic rock. Fun fact: she even missed her senior prom to see The Rolling Stones on their 40 Licks tour!
Kara grew up in Greensburg, KY. She graduated from Western Kentucky University's dental hygiene program in 2017. She has practiced at The Tooth Booth since 2019. Kara is committed to helping patients maintain their oral health and preventing the dental office from being a high anxiety experience. When Kara is not working with our patients at The Tooth Booth, you can find her snuggled up with her dogs (Tux and Lambeau), and in true @darylanndenner fashion, drinking a #LDC (large diet coke).
Our hygienist, Hilary, grew up in Elkton, KY. She has been practicing dental hygiene since July 2018. An alumni of the 2018 graduating class at Western Kentucky University. Hilary has a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Dental Hygiene.
Samantha is a familiar face at The Tooth Booth as she has been an essential team member since 2013. Samantha received her expanded duties dental assistant certification from the University of Louisville, and trained alongside Dr. Hughes during her implant residency at the University of Kentucky. Samantha loves being a part of every patient experience, especially complete smile makeovers and oral surgery.
Madison has been in the aesthetic industry for many years, graduating from Empire Cosmetology School in 2013. Madison is passionate about skincare and devoted to continuing education and training with the latest advancements in her field. While practicing for nearly 10 years, she loves to help patients achieve their skincare goals to ensure they feel more comfortable and confident.
'I 'm here to help patients figure out the best approach to their specific needs by teaching the use of medical grade skincare, as well as facial services including the latest in microneedling and CO2 lasers.'
Gabriele was born in Amberg, Germany. She came to the United States in 1984. Gabriele worked in a hospitality setting as hotel manager for 10 years, then as an electronic monitoring supervisor for 15 years. She has since found a new home at the front office of The Tooth Booth.
Originally from Georgia, Dianna and her family have called the Bluegrass sate home for over a decade. In 2019, this stay-at-home mom of three was ready for a new adventure and turns out the leopard carpet here was just what she was looking for! When not greeting patients you can find Dianna poolside cheering on her favorite swimmers or in the kitchen whipping up a batch of her famous red velvet cupcakes!
Ramona brings 20+ years of management, insurance, and accounting experience to The Tooth Booth, along with a lifetime of managing Dr. Hughes (it's funny because she's her mom). Ramona and her husband (Kevin) live in Columbia, KY. She enjoys riding and showing her beautiful horses, spending time with her family, cooking out, and riding on the back of Kevin's motorcycle. She's probably watched every episode of Snapped ever made. True crime seems to be a theme here.
Jason stays busy completing our office honey-do list that's ran by 12 women which honestly doesn't leave time for much else. In addition to being the office-wide handyman, he chauffeurs our team transport bus to conferences, continuing education, and team field trips. Jason is responsible for transport of our Training Academy guests as well. In his spare time, Jason trains and cares for the family's horses, manages the pink farmhouse, and is responsible for handling Dr. Hughes (a big job).
Annie, an Aussiedoodle, is the 'dog-tor' for the office! She completed her rigorous training to be a therapy dog in a medical setting! This lovely lady is no joke in the snuggle department. She loves meeting new people and aiding in a stress free experience for our patients. When Annie isn 't on the clock, she lives with Dr. Hughes, Jason, and Otis. She enjoys naps, her favorite stuffed animal, Bun Bun, and adding to her extensive bandanna collection.
