Dr. Renata Da Fonseca is a native of Brasil. She attended dental school at Universidade De Mogi Das Cruzes, in Sao Paulo, Brasil. She practiced dentistry for more than eight years in Brasil before leaving it all behind to pursue her dream of a specialization in pediatric dentistry in the United States. She attended a two-year dental program for internationally trained dentists in order to earn her Doctorate of Dental Surgery and become licensed to practice dentistry in the United States.
After working for several years in California as a general dentist seeing only pediatric patients, she went after her dream and pursued a specialization in pediatric dentistry. She attended a three-year post doctorate program in pediatric dentistry at the University of Puerto Rico to earn her specialist degree and dedicated extensive time in the research department working on her thesis. Shes published several papers about different topics including the guidelines and protocols for the dental treatment of pediatric patients with special needs.
Dr. Fon is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, and English, which allows her to serve patients from diverse backgrounds. She considers herself very fortunate to be a pediatric dental specialist because it really fulfills her desire to help kids, which is one of the things she loves and cherishes the most.
My mission as a dentist is to change how pediatric patients perceive the dental experience; shifting a childs state of mind from fear to feeling comfortable at their dental visits is the reason why I do what I do. I take so much pride when I see patients are as happy to see me as I am to see them! I cannot see myself doing anything but working with kids! I believe every small act of kindness can create a better world around us. No kid will be in dental pain under my watch!
