Dr. Shaun Freeman, grew up in Merrillville, Indiana and graduated from Merrillville High School in 2005. He received his Bachelors degree in Biology from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN, and completed his dental studies at Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis, IN.
Dr. Shaun began his career practicing dentistry in Tampa, Florida but has returned to practice in Indiana to be close to his and his wifes family. Dr. Shaun provides quality, comprehensive dental care to patients of the community.
Dr. Maya Gendlin Freeman is a Northwest Indiana native, graduating from Munster High School. She graduated from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 2014, and has spent the latter half of her career practicing in Crown Point, IN.
She is passionate about lifetime care, and establishing meaningful relationships with her patients. She is excited to offer care in all phases of dentistry, including BOTOX and Juvderm filler treatment.
Dr. Shaun and Dr. Maya currently live in Chicago, Illinois. They met in dental school, and got married in June, 2017 in Highland, IN. Dr. Shaun and Dr. Maya have given back to the local community through Free Dental Days and traveled to Port Margot, Haiti to treat patients without access to dental care. They are active members of the Indiana Dental Association (IDA), the American Dental Association (ADA), the Northwest Indiana Dental Society (NWIDS), and the Chicago Dental Society (CDS).
Dr. Stephen L. Lucas is the founder of Sand Creek Dental and has been providing exceptional dental care to Chesterton and surrounding areas for over 40 years, alongside his wife, Mary. Dr. Lucas and Mary have created an environment of trust where patients are treated like family.
Dr. Lucas is an Indiana University School of Dentistry alumni and he and his wife have raised three children in Chesterton, IN. In his spare time, Dr. Lucas enjoys running as well as vacationing in sunny Florida.
Hi, my name is Jamie. I have been working for two years in the dental field as a front desk coordinator. I love greeting patients and enhancing their dental experience. In my spare time, I love shopping, eating Mexican food, and spending time with my husband and Golden Doodle Nova. We are enjoying renovating our 100-year-old house into a farmhouse in Wanatah and going to auctions.
Hi, Im Kelly! I have been in the dental field for seven years! I joined Sand Creek dental in 2021 as a front desk team member. I specialize in working with our patients and helping them with all their insurance and scheduling needs. Providing great customer service is my highest priority! When Im not at the office I love spending time with my son and I enjoy running and being outdoors.

I enjoy getting to know each patient and their families and making them feel welcome and strive to making their dental visit a pleasurable one. When I am not working, I enjoy camping and spending time with my 3 grandkids.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three daughters in the sunshine at the pool. I love being a hygienist because of the connections Ive made with our patients over the years and I am proud to be part of a practice that provides high-quality dentistry in a caring environment.

Hi, my name is Angie. I received my associates degree in Dental Hygiene from Indiana University in 2012. My husband and I live in Valparaiso where we are raising our daughter. We love to hike and camp and anything outdoors. I love being a hygienist because I think it's important to help patients feel comfortable while receiving care.
I have been a Dental Assistant for many years. My dental training started in 1990 at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California. I love educating my patients about dentistry - it is a big part of peoples health. I pride myself on staying well educated within my field so I can better serve the people around me. There is nothing more satisfying to me than to put a smile on someones face and calm their fears. When Im not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, children, and grandchildren. I also love traveling, running and church activities.
