A: Specializing in Pediatric Dentistry was a very easy decision. I had worked for several years in General Dentistry and while I enjoyed it, I found that treating children was highly rewarding.I was proud to be accepted for the Pediatric Dentistry residency program at the University of Washington and have enjoyed every moment of having my own practice back home here in Colorado. Now I get to see kids all day!
A: Having two little boys is a lot of fun, but it can be demanding too. I have a better appreciation now that even the best plans sometimes dont get realized. And when a mother of a toddler confesses that sometimes teeth just dont get brushed twice a day, I get it.We all do the best we can.
A: I would love to hear that they had fun at the dentist!I hope parents will say that he or she felt confident that their child was receiving the best possible care, and I want the child to be excited to come back!

I love watching the kids grow and evolve. They come in as tiny tots who are often a bit apprehensive, and before you know it they are seniors in high school, ready to go out and do great things in the world!
Born and raised in rural Montana, Dr. Stormi Winter received her bachelors degree in Cell Biology and Neuroscience from Montana State University followed by her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine. During her two years of training in Ohio at a level-one trauma center and serving as Chief Resident, she gained extensive experience in managing emergency trauma, restorative dentistry, behavior guidance, orthodontics, preventative dentistry, atraumatic restorative techniques, and treatment of patients with special healthcare needs, as well as providing care utilizing nitrous oxide, moderate sedation, and general anesthesia.
In her free time Dr. Winter enjoys traveling, hiking, skiing, scuba diving, trying new cuisine, camping, and boating. And yes, her name is real! She enjoys all of her hobbies alongside her loving husband, Nick Winter, a Denver native.
A: In the years before I applied to dental school, I worked for a program in my home state of Montana that coordinated pediatric dentists to travel to rural elementary schools to provide exams and preventative services to geographically isolated and underserved children. I was astonished to learn how many children do not have access to healthcare or specialists for many different reasons. It was during that time that I became passionate about providing care for children as well as advocating locally and nationally to break down the barriers to access quality healthcare that many families face.
I love interacting with kids, because they keep you on your toes! You never know what they are going to say and it allows us to have fun all day long at work. It is so enjoyable to watch them grow and I feel so proud learning about their accomplishments both inside and outside of the office. I love learning about each childs unique qualities and personalizing their care to maximize their strengths.
I would love to hear that they enjoyed their visit and that somehow our team had a positive impact on their childs life, no matter how small. I would love to hear that the child had fun and that the parents felt confident that they received the highest quality of care!
