Dr. Reed retired in the summer of 2013. He has truly beenmissed since he left by his patients, his staff and myself. We wish him and Nancy all the best going forward! Below is a letter that Dr. Reed wrote to his patients before leaving our office.
I've had the pleasure of calling Potsdam home for the last thirty-three years. On July 2, 1980, I arrived in Potsdam with all my worldly possessions packed into my little car to join the practice of Dr. Murray Mintz at 83 Market Street. In the intervening years, I met my wife Nancy, and together we raised two great kids, Mallory and Scott.
I've been fortunate to tend to the same patients from childhood into adulthood. I've worked with the same staff since I started in the office, and most of the people I hired are still here. The office has been remodeled many times, and in its present incarnation, the Potsdam Center for Innovative Dental Technologies, contains state of the art equipment.
My greatest satisfaction came from the people I've had the pleasure of working with over the years. By working side by side with a group of bright, motivated, and curious individuals, it forced me to become the best dentist I could be, for my staff is as knowledgeable as a dentist, always sitting next to me and judging my work. I know that a contented staff translated into a happy patient and a harmonious work environment.
My children have both relocated to the West, my son in Denver and daughter in Tucson. I've chosen to move closer to where they live, so am going to retire. In 2009, we welcomed Dr. Aaron Acres to Potsdam and the practice, and it has become a successful union. Dr. Acres is a fabulous dentist with aterrific chair side manner, and will continuethe tradition of excellent dental care in a comfortable environment that patients expect when they arrive at 83 Market Street. My wonderful staff will continue to work with Dr. Acres.
It's more the exception than the rule to have only one job for their entire career. I am humbled by the trust that has been given to me by the great patients of this practice, and appreciate all the North Country has offered me over the years. I feel I've ridden my bike on every paved road in St. Lawrence County. There are new roads for me to explore in Colorado and Arizona. As I cycle off, a part of me will always remain in this building, and I am secure in the knowledge that Dr. Acres will continue to provide fine dental care to our present and future patients.
My main objective is to make each patients visit as easy and pleasant at possible. With our expertise, advanced technologies, experienced team members and a desire to treat our patients like family, we are able to deliver quality dental care in a relaxed and friendly setting. We love to laugh and have fun at work, yet we also take dental care seriously and will provide all of our patients an opportunity to achieve proper oral health.
I graduated with my Bachelor of Science from the University of Miami in 2001 and completed a post baccalaureate program in Nutrition at the University of Florida in 2003. In 2008, I earned my DMD from Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine and then completed a General Practice Residency at Faxton-St. Lukes Hospital in Utica, NY in 2009. Since the completion of my residency, I have enjoyed workinghere at the Potsdam Center for Innovative Dental Technologies. I have also continued my education by taking various continuing education courses in advanced dentistry in order to provide my patients with excellent, up-to-date dental care. Being available to my patients after hours or on weekends in the event of an emergency is an important part of my philosophy as a family dentist.
I was born in Glens Falls, New York and I grew up in Stuart, Florida. My grandparents, Gerald and Jean Acres had a farm in Madrid, New York where my dad Gary and aunts Connie and Donna grew up. Family ties and summers spent in Parishville, NY as a child have brought me back to the North Country. I enjoy spending time with family, friends and raising my twowonderful children Hayln and Willow. In my free time, I enjoy beingoutdoors includinghiking, camping, kayaking, fishing andhunting.
I have been at Potsdam Center for Innovative Dental Technologies for 21 years. As a dental hygienist, I provide a needed service to all my patients. We have shared stories, laughter, pictures and even tears all while cleaning teeth. We have seen children grow into adults and bring their own children into our practice. I have learned so much from my patients that without them, it would not be a practice.
I've been a member of this team since 1987. I work at the front desk and perform a number of duties. Everyone at the Potsdam Center for Innovative Technologies has worked here so long that we are like family. One thing our patients always comment on is they like seeing the same friendly faces when coming to our office.
I joined this practice in 1985, starting out as receptionist, moving into an assisting position, and becoming NYS Certified in 2002. At Potsdam Center for Innovative Technologies, I feel that I am in an environment where I am constantly learning and keeping up with the newest dental technology. The office atmosphere is warm and inviting and everyone here has such a close relationship with one another that it feels like family. Being a people person, I enjoy interacting with the many patients that walk through the door and look forward to the individual challenge that each day brings. I truly appreciate being part of this awesome team!
I am cross-trained as an assistant and receptionist. I found myself interested in the dental field at an early age having undergone dental treatment as a little girl with Dr. Reed and most of our current staff. I am proud to be part of a team that holds close relationships with each other and with our patients. Our office offers a fast-paced, up-to-date atmosphere that is also warm and inviting.
I am a Licensed Dental Assistant. After working in this practice since 1994, I can truly say I enjoy my job. I assist both doctors in various clinical procedures, charting, X-rays, lab work, and numerous other duties. What I enjoy the most are the relationships that I have established with our patients and my fellow co-workers.
I am a Registered Dental Hygienist, graduating from Onondaga Community College in 2001. I've been working in this office for almost three years as a part-time hygienist. I enjoy working with both Dr. Reed and Dr. Acres and the rest of the team. It's very rewarding and fun to help people attain great oral health.
I am one of the newest members of our dental team joining the practice in 2014. Since then, our team has become like a second family to me. I started working at the front desk as a receptionist and have since been cross-trained in assisting Dr. Acres with the many procedures we offer. One of the things that I enjoy most about my career is having the opportunity to get to know all of our outstanding patients.
I graduated from Massena Central and now reside in the town of Norfolk. When I am not working, I spend time with my lovely daughter, friends, and family. Reading and music are just a couple of things I enjoy.
I joined Dr. Acres and his team at Potsdam Center for Innovative Dental Technologies in Dec. 2017. I am a 2002 graduate from Hudson Valley Community College. I take pride in providing dental education and comfort care to my patients to provide them optimal professional dental care and knowledge to maintain a healthy happy smile at home.
In my free time I enjoy time with my husband Scott and our two yellow labs. We enjoy the outdoors. We like to motorcycle, snowmobile, and 4 wheel at our camp in South Colton. I also love to read for fun and for continuing education purposes.
