Dr. Pickering stays on the leading-edge of orthodontics. His continues his education as a participating member in the American Association of Orthodontists, Southern Association of Orthodontists, Tennessee Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Tennessee Dental Association, 2nd District Dental Association and the Tennessee/Kentucky Damon Study Club.
He gives back to his local community by volunteering with groups and associations including the North Knoxville Rotary Club. He speaks often to civic organizations on various aspects of braces, cleft lip and palate procedures and general dentistry. He is a regular guest speaker to dental assistants, dental hygienists, and the Departments of General Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.
Dr. Pickering is the Orthodontic Consultant for the Childrens Special Services branch of the Knox County Health Department and the cleft lip and palate team associated with Park West Plastic Surgery. He is also a consultant for the Cleft Team at East Tennessee Childrens Hospital, which is a member of the American Cleft Lip and Palate Association.
Dr. Pickering and his wife Stephanie enjoy the great outdoors by hiking and playing tennis. After graduating from Knoxville Catholic High School, his children, Suzanna and Walter, are pursuing their passions.
Dr. Reem Hallal has a passion for orthodontics and patient care. She enjoys transforming her patients smiles while getting to know them along the way. Dr. Hallal was born in Damascus, Syria, and moved to the United States at the age of one. She was raised in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Hallal earned her BS in Psychology from the University of Michigan. She then went on to earn her doctoral degree in dentistry from the University of Detroit Mercy.
She graduated at the top of her class and was inducted into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Honor Society of Dentists. After a year in the field as a general dentist, Dr. Hallal went on to earn her certificate in orthodontics as well as a Master of Science in dentistry from the University of Detroit Mercy. She practiced orthodontics in Metro Detroit for six years priorto moving to Knoxville.
Dr. Hallal maintains her skills on the leading edge of orthodontics. She has vast experience in using 3D technology to improve efficiency and accuracy in orthodontic treatment. She is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists.
Dr. Hallal and her husband, Johnny, a practicing Gastroenterologist, live in Knoxville. She enjoys reading, cooking, fashion, and travel. She recently moved to Knoxville and is enjoying exploring all the beauty it has to offer.
