Dr. Hunter McCord, D.D.S. joined the Ocoee Oral Surgery staff in 2013. He is the son of Dr. Paul McCord. Dr. Hunter grew up in Cleveland, and graduated from Lee University with a B.S. in Biology and a Minor in Religion. After college, he attended dental school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. Dr. McCord then went on to complete a one year internship at the Head & Neck Cancer Clinic at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. From there he moved to Washington, D.C. to complete his formal surgical training at Howard University Hospital. During his time in Washington, D.C. Dr. McCord completed rotations in Plastic Surgery, Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Otolaryngology, and Emergency Medicine, resulting in a very well-rounded background and deeper understanding of medicine. He completed his Anesthesia training at Washington, D.C. VA Hospital, and his Pediatric Anesthesia training at Childrens National Hospital.
Dr. McCord is Board Certified in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery by the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and is Board Certified in Anesthesia by the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He is currently the Chairman of the Dept. of Dentistry and Head of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Tennova Hospital. Dr. McCord stays engaged in the community through his involvement with various organizations and charities. Hes a member of the Rotary Club of Cleveland and past board member of the Museum at 5ive Points, and he enjoys attending various free dental clinics in the area and through his home church, Broad Street United Methodist. When hes not tending to patients, Dr. McCord can be found spending time with his wife, Mary Catherine, and their two children Henry and Jack.
Paul McCord, DDS, is the founding member of Ocoee Oral Surgery. The practice was founded as, Paul McCord, DDS but was changed to Ocoee Oral Surgery in 2013. Originally from Humboldt, TN, Dr. McCord started the practice in 1983, and has worked in dentistry for 41 years. Dr. McCord was a general dentist in Knoxville, TN for 2 years before going back to school to become an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon. He is Board Certified in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery by the AAOMS and is Board Certified in Anesthesiology by the ADSA. Prior to Dr. Hunter McCord taking over the position Dr. Paul was Chief of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Head of the Dept. of Dentistry at Tennova Hospital (Previously Sky Ridge/Bradley Memorial) for 30 years. He enjoys the work very much not only because it is academically challenging, but also because he gets to work with people and effectively help them solve whatever dental problems may arise. In his spare time Dr. McCord enjoys working out, traveling, charity work, and spending time with his family primarily playing with his grandsons!
Tammy is Head of Insurance and Scheduling, is a Registered Dental Assistant, and a Certified Anesthesia Assistant at Ocoee Oral. She brings 34 years of experience in dentistry to the table, and she loves taking on the daily challenges that come with her position. Tammy is a huge patient advocate, always going above and beyond to ensure each receives the best possible care every time they come into our office. Shes been a vital part of the Ocoee Oral Surgery team since 1998, and were so lucky to have her on staff. Tammy has a wonderful family, and loves spending her free time with them especially playing with her grandchildren. She loves any outdoor river activities, specifically boating, paddleboarding, and kayaking when the weather permits.
Alisa is part of Front Desk Staff here at Ocoee Oral Surgery. Originally from Rochester, NY, Alisa and her husband, Wayne, have two sons, Jake and Evan. She worked for 10 years as a medical secretary before becoming a mother, and was then a stay-at-home mom for 17 years. She joined our staff in January of 2019, and said she loves helping others and working with the amazing team at Ocoee Oral.
Ashley, Tracy, Hillary, and Ciera are our surgical assistants. They have more than 15 years combined experience in assisting a full range of oral surgery procedures, and are certified by the State of Tennessee in the monitoring of patients undergoing anesthesia. Along with being CPR certified, all of our surgical assistants have completed the Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification Examination (DAANCE) Program. Not only do Ashley, Tracy, Hillary, and Ciera provide surgical assistance for in-office procedures, but also they assist in hospital-based surgeries at Tennova Healthcare-Cleveland. In addition to the technical skills needed, all of our surgical assistants strive to provide each patient with the personal attention necessary to make them feel welcome, comfortable, and at ease.
Ashley serves as part of our surgical team as a Registered Dental Assistant, and is a Certified Anesthesia Assistant by the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. Born and raised in Cleveland, TN, Ashley graduated from Cleveland High School, and gained some professional experience across several jobs including some time at Bradley Healthcare & Rehab. Ashley and her husband Corey have one daughter named Katelyn. Ashley began working at Ocoee Oral in 2012. She loves meeting new people through the position, and the relationships she gets to build with Ocoee patients. When she isnt working, Ashley enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Hillary serves on our surgical team as a Registered Dental Assistant, and is a Certified Anesthesia Assistant by the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. She grew up here in Cleveland, TN, and attended Cleveland High School. She has a combined 9 and a half years working in the medical and dental fields, and has been a part of our team since 2014. Prior to working at Ocoee Oral Surgery, she worked as a general dental assistant for 3 years. She loves building relationships with her work family, as well as with the patients she cares for. Hillary and her husband, Matthew, have two beautiful daughters, Emmalyn and Adalynn. When shes not assisting patients, Hillary enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Tracy serves on our surgical team as a Registered Dental Assistant, and is a Certified Anesthesia Assistant by the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. She has been working with us since 2010, and has 23 years of experience in the medical and dental fields, giving her a compassionate edge with patient care. She said she enjoys taking care of people, and the relationships she gets to build while working alongside such a wonderful office family. Tracy and her husband, Keith, have two children and three grandchildren, and they love spending as much time with them as they can manage.
Ciera Passmore serves on our surgical team as a Registered Dental Assistant, and is a Certified Anesthesia Assistant by the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, Ciera moved to Cleveland, TN where she graduated from Walker Valley High School. She has worked in medicine and dentistry for more than 7 years, and joined our staff in 2018. Ciera enjoys the patient care aspect of her position, and said she loves working with the amazing team at Ocoee Oral Surgery. Ciera and her husband, Kevin, have 3 german shepherds named Zeus, Athena, and Hercules. In her spare time, she loves to get outdoors for hiking, camping, and anything water related with her family and friends.
