Dr. Leyla Sahabi attended University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) for her undergraduate before going to Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine to receive her DMD degree. She is also a preclinical and clinical faculty instructor at UOP School of Dentistry in San Francisco.
She believes in keeping herself up to date with the latest trends and technology and cares for her patients on a personal level. She is passionate about cosmetic and preventive dentistry and her philosophy of dentistry is achieving aesthetic results with a minimally invasive approach. Dr. Leyla has consistently been recognized by her staff and colleagues for her exceptional work ethic and dedication. She likes to positively affect patients' lives by improving their smiles and general oral health.
Dr. Askari is a Bay Area native who has been practicing dentistry since 2012. She grew up in Cupertino before moving to Southern California to study biology at UC Irvine. After her undergraduate studies, she decided to move to the East Coast to attend Boston University's Goldman School of Dental Medicine. She truly enjoyed the experience of living in Boston and always holds a special place in her heart for that city.
She has a great passion for traveling and Greece has been one of her favorite destinations. Oakland is her home now and she couldn't be happier living and working in such a diverse and beautiful city. She loves to cook, but more importantly, she loves to eat and appreciates restaurant recommendations! She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, especially her husband and her two young daughters.
Dr. Contro was born and raised in the South Bay Area and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of California, Davis. He then earned his dental degree from the University of California, San Francisco, where he stayed for three additional years of training for a specialty certificate in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics.
Dr. Contro also earned a masters degree in oral and craniofacial sciences from the University of California, San Francisco. While getting his masters, he conducted cutting-edge, three-dimensional research on the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), which won an award for best original research article for 2015-2016 and was published in the Journal of Asian Pacific Orthodontic Society.
Its always been Dr. Contros dream to be an orthodontist. At his practice at Contro Orthodontics, he strives for the best results available to modern dentistry by using early interceptive orthodontics and state-of-the-art treatment modalities, like self-ligating brackets, temporary skeletal anchorage devices, and Invisalign. The practice is a Diamond Plus provider of Invisalign.
Dr. Contro is passionate about educating his patients on their conditions and treatment paths. He knows that successful orthodontic treatment is about the cooperation of the patient as much as it is about the skill of the orthodontist and that a patient who understands the why is much more likely to do that what. He has a wealth of experience in mentoring and tutoring children and enjoys continuing that practice through orthodontics.
Dr. Ryoo grew up in Michigan and New Jersey before moving to the Bay Area and earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of California at Berkeley. After working in the tech industry for several years, Dr. Ryoo decided to pursue a career in dentistry in order to enter the field of healthcare and to be able to help others. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, CA and has been practicing in the Bay Area since 2015.
Dr. Ryoo believes in providing his patients with high quality, ethical care and seeks to improve their overall health by educating patients on the effects of gum disease and cavities on the rest of the body. He is very patient and understanding of those patients who may be nervous about visiting the dentist, and explains in simple terms why certain procedures are needed, along with the benefits and risks of the treatment. He is a good listener and enjoys working together with his patients to come up with a plan to address their chief concerns. Dr. Ryoo enjoys getting to know his patients and getting them to smile in order to make them feel more comfortable in our office!
Dr. Ryoo, his wife Wan, and toddler Grace live in San Ramon, CA, where they enjoy cooking, watching Elmo and BTS videos, going to the beach, and spending time with family and friends. Dr. Ryoo is an avid sports fan who enjoys playing basketball, golf, and rooting for the Warriors and Michigan Wolverines. Go Dubs and Go Blue!
Daisy has 20 years experience in the dental field, beginning her career as a pediatric registered dental assistant and graduating as a registered dental hygienist in 2008. She takes pride in caring for her patients with compassion and loves building a lasting relationship with them and their smile. Daisy is attentive and understanding to patient needs. Being of Azorean Portuguese descent Daisy is fluent in Portuguese and understands most and can speak some Spanish. Outside of the office Daisys son, daughter and husband keep her busy. Together they love to spend time outdoors glamping in their travel trailer with family and friends, participating in Portuguese festivities, and vacationing whenever possible.
She graduated from Arroyo High School and received her certifications for Dental Assisting at Eden Area Regional Occupational Program. After gaining more experience in Newbury Dental, she passed the state exam to receive her RDA license!
Marina has been working in the dental industry for over ten years, and she is one of the first faces you will see when you walk into Newbury Dental. She studied Anthropology at San Jose State University, and she loves meeting new people from all walks of life. Within her years working in the dental field, she has gained extensive knowledge in dental insurance. She takes tremendous pride in ensuring that your dental visit is a great experience.
My name is Gorett and I am a Bay Area native. I have been a Dental Hygienist since 2004 and prior to that was a Dental Assistant. As a Hygienist, I love being able to share my knowledge about the connection between oral health and systemic health as well as the relationships that I build with my patients. I love spending time with my family and friends! My passions are traveling, dancing, eating and smiling!
