He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and he has held faculty positions at both the University of the Pacific (UOP) and the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) schools of dentistry. He is currently in full-time private practice where in addition to providing the full scope of periodontal treatment, he has developed particular interest and expertise with implants, soft tissue grafting, conscious sedation, laser surgery and preventive dental care.
A native Californian, Dr. Beckstead grew up in the bay area and he attended local schools. His college pursuits took him to Brigham Young University (BYU) where he received a bachelors degree in biology. He followed his fathers footsteps by choosing a career in dentistry. He graduated with honors from the University of Southern California (USC) School of Dentistry. Upon graduation, he was accepted into a General Practice Residency at the VA hospital in West Los Angeles. It was during his residency that he developed a real interest in periodontics. He went on to postdoctoral specialty training at the University of Washington School of Dentistry where he received his certificate in periodontics.
Dr. Beckstead has been active in the local dental community through continuing education programs. Dr. Beckstead directs the award winning Palo Alto Study Club. The club is an organization of dental professionals who meet together to further their understanding of multi-disciplinary treatment and comprehensive care of patients.
Dr. Michael Nguyen is an experienced periodontist, dedicated to providing gentle and effective care to patients of all dental backgrounds. He believes that excellent oral health begins with education and prevention and has made it his mission to enlighten patients to ways they can take greater control over their own dental health. Dr. Michael Nguyen is committed to continuing education and remaining aware of the latest advancements in oral health and dentistry.
Dr. Nguyen earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco. Deciding to pursue his passion for the science of periodontology and dental implants, he completed his postdoctoral specialty training and received dual certificates in Periodontology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and from the Birmingham Veterans Affairs Hospital. He is board certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He is trained and experienced with intravenous sedation to maximize patient comfort. Continuing education is very important to him, and he spends a considerable amount of time to be at the forefront of periodontology. Dr. Nguyens passion is to bring the very best possible care for his patients.
Dr. Michael Nguyen is a native of the California Bay Area. In his leisure, Dr. Nguyen enjoys an active lifestyle. He enjoys the outdoors, including bicycling and hiking. He is an avid sports fan and cheers on the Bay Areas hockey, baseball, basketball, and football teams. Most of all though, he enjoys spending quality time with his wife and two daughters.
