Although not an exact restoration, the authentic appearance and character of the 1790 log cabin have been maintained wherever possible.
The historical cabin portion of the building serves as the reception area. The rear of the cabin opens into the clinical area, a two-story extension that was reconstructed in 2006 following a fire. The resulting interior is a wide-open, informal, and fully equipped dental environment. More than patient-friendly, Mahan Creek Dental is people-friendly. It hasnt been unusual for people to stop by to fish in the babbling creek outside or gaze at the irresistible waterfall view from the clinics inviting deck and grounds. The local community has adopted and embraced this remarkable spot.

Dr. Mendez graduated from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in 2014 and joined Mahan Creek Dental in 2016 after practicing in Montgomery for two years. Before he began his career in dentistry, Dr. Mendez attended Auburn University and graduated in 2008 with a degree in software engineering. He completed a second major in biology at UAB in 2010. Though he enjoys working with technology and the software behind it, Dr. Mendez realized during his time in Auburn that his true passion lay in his childhood dream of becoming a dentist.
In just the last few years, Dr. Mendez has shown a high level of involvement within the dental community. During his dental training at UAB, he served as a class officer and was very active in the American Student Dental Association. Dr. Mendez is a member of the American Dental Association and has quickly become a leader within the Alabama Academy of General Dentistry. For the 2018-2019 term, he served as thePresident of the Alabama AGD; at time of induction, he was youngest AGD member to have attained that honor. Having logged over200 hours of continuing education in just the last four years, Dr. Mendez is well on his way to earning Fellowship status within the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Mendez grew up in McCalla, Alabama and attended McAdory High School. He now lives in Alabaster with his wife Erin and their son Ian. They love dogs and have a heart for animal rescue; their family includes Avery, a yellow lab, and Henry, a black shi-tzu. Dr. Mendez enjoys many outdoor activities, especially running. He has participated in Birminghams Mercedes Half-Marathon in past years and plans to train to run it again soon.
