That fall Dr. Jim started his training at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, and received his DDS degree. During his time at the School of Dentistry, Jim received the Donald A. Kerr award as the outstanding student in general and oral pathology and the American Academy of Dental Radiography award as the outstanding student in dental radiography. He was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon national dental honor society. Dr. Jim's student research was published in the journal, Anesthesia Progress and he was honored to present his results at the annual meeting of the International Association of Dental Research in Dallas Texas.
After dental school, Dr. Jim elected to do a one year General Practice Residency at the University of Illinois Hospital. His residency experience included a course in physical diagnosis through the University of Illinois medical school, a rotation on an internal medicine service (at the West Side VA Hospital), and a rotation on an anesthesia service doing IV sedation and general anesthesia for surgeries. It also included rotations in oral surgery and hospital dentistry, working primarily on medically compromised patients and Medicaid eligible children.
Then Dr. Jim returned to Hastings to join his father, Dr. Carl Peurach, in private practice. Jim partnered with his father for 10 years, until Dr. Carl retired. Since then, Dr. Jim has partnered with a dedicated staff to continue providing high quality care to his patients.
Over the years Jim has continued learning through continuing education courses on such subjects as dental implants, porcelain veneers, cosmetic bonding, all ceramic cosmetic restorations, chronic pain and many others. Dr. Jim is a member of the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association and the West Michigan District Dental Association.
While in dental school, Dr. Jim married his high school sweetheart Peggy. They have three sons: Stephen, Jonathan and Thomas. Jim enjoys golf, tennis and outdoor recreation. He has been a parent coach for over 30 youth soccer, basketball and baseball teams.
Dr. Kim was born and raised in Holt, Michigan. She obtained a business degree from Miami University before attending the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, where she graduated cum laude. After completing dental school, Dr. Kim stayed in Louisville KY to practice while her husband completed his residency in Oral Surgery. Dr. Kim is so excited to move to Grand Rapids where most of her extended family now resides. Her special interests include preventative dentistry, crown & bridge, oral surgery and endodontics, which she continues to grow through continuing education. Dr. Kim hopes to bring her clinical experience and gentle touch to assist Dr. Jim to ensure the individual needs of all our patients are met.
I started my dental career in 1998 as a dental assistant with Dr. Peurach. I graduated from hygiene school in 2005 from Kellogg Community College. In college I served as a class officer and enjoyed participating in community outreach programs. I like to positively impact people's lives and help improve their oral health.
Jen says if she wouldn't have gotten into the Dental Hygiene program at Kellogg Community College, she would have gone for being a radiography technician or a UPS driver! She graduated from KCC in 2012.
Her hobbies include buying craft supplies such as rubber stamps, sticker, and scrapbook paper. Summer art fairs in St. Joseph and Ann Arbor are another of her interests. Jen adopted her cat Frankie in July 2020 and he has been a great source of joy. Jen also is an election volunteer!
I was born and raised a Michigander and I continue to be smitten with the mitten! I received by Certificate for Dental Assisting from Ross Medical Education Center. The dental field was the career I chose where I could combine my love for people and my skills to help bring a smile and educate our patients here at James C. Peurach Family Dentistry. I love working side by side with the team at this office because together we strive for excellence while keeping an upbeat atmosphere.
Hi, I'm Roxanne. I went to Ross Medical Education for school to become a dental assistant. I trained here with Dr. Jim. He and all the staff were so wonderful, when they offered me a position, I happily accepted. All the patients have been so great and I am excited to continue my career here!
I've been working in the dental field for over eight years. I have enjoyed getting to know the patients here at Dr. Jim's office for four years and counting. I grew up in Hastings, but left as an adult while living first in Florida, then in California, for a combined 12 years. I miss that California weather, but being back in Hastings has really been wonderful for my family.
When the sun shines you will find me outside riding bikes, long boards or jumping on the trampoline with my kids, hiking, kayaking or enjoying my back deck. In the winter, I would rather watch movies while the fireplace warms the living room. I love a good thunderstorm. And someday, I hope to travel to many of the beautiful places around the world.
My dental career began in 1992, when I graduated from Kalamazoo Valley Community College's dental hygiene program. I began working in several local dental offices while raising our two children. Shortly thereafter, I was asked to join the Dental Hygiene Advisory Board at KVCC and remained on it for more than 20 years. It was rewarding to give back to my alma mater.
I completed my bachelor's degree in Healthcare Management from Siena Heights University in 2000 to enhance my education and give myself more career choices. After 23 years in hygiene, I began to explore some of these options. Ultimately that led me to Dr. Jim's dental practice, where I am happy to be part of the dental team as one of the Financial/Scheduling Coordinators.
Outside of work, I spend my days off with my husband Ron & our cat Jazzi. Together we live in the Gun Lake area and enjoy golfing, boating, hiking and traveling. Our travels have included Hawaii, Alaska, and Italy. Our kids are grown and have given us three grandchildren, who we love to spoil. Life is good!
I graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a BBA in 1982 and graduated from Western Michigan University with an MS in Accounting in 1990. While I have worked in several different industries, most of my experience is in the area of health care; including dental offices, a podiatry clinic, andan accounts receivable department of a hospital in Chicago.
