We are pleased to welcome Dr. Montoya to our Grand Dental Naperville team. He has been a part of the dental field for more than 8 years and serving Grand Dental patients in Lake Zurich for the past 5. He and his family recently moved and he is excited to have the opportunity to serve patients closer to home by joining the dynamic Naperville team.
Dr. Montoya comes from a family blessed with many medical professionals, including his mother, an Internist from Northwestern. Being raised by a single mother who was passionate about life and her career drew him to follow his own interests in science and caring for others. Growing up with this immersion into healthcare inspired him to pursue his own path in medicine.
In college, Dr. Montoya decided to shadow his aunt at her Chicago dental office. He quickly fell in love with the vibe of dentistry and the excitement of working in a dental office. Seeing patients on a bi-annual basis allows dentists to get to know the families they treat. Dr. Montoya appreciates being able to provide great healthcare to the community in which he lives.
Dr. Montoya pursued his dental doctorate at the University of Illinois at Chicago Dental School. Hes a graduate of the United States Dental Institute and is also certified in Invisalign and laser dentistry. Keeping up with continuing education is crucial for him, which is why he joined the Dental Community of Dental XP in 2014 and is an active member of the Chicago Dental Society. His areas of focus for additional training include sleep apnea therapy, root canal therapy, and oral surgery.
Dr. Montoya is married to Magali, a talented wedding hair stylist. They have two beautiful girls named Sofia and Olivia. Outside of dentistry, one of his biggest passions is ice hockey! Hes been playing goalie since he was five years old and has and won three state titles. His brother played in the NHL and recently retired with the Edmonton Oilers. Today, he still makes time to play every week and loves coaching younger hockey players. He even represents Grand Dental - Naperville at local holiday community events and lets visitors Take a Shot at the Doc to win prizes!
Other hobbies include working out (his twin brother owns a CrossFit gym) and traveling the world with his loved ones. His favorite recent trip they took was to Italy on the Amalfi coast, which was a week-long dream of beautiful beach towns, wineries, and history.
Dr. Micalettis approach to patient care is to explain in detail their oral health situation and review all option before starting treatment. He encourages his patients to be engaged in treatment decisions. One of his best methods is to draw pictures to illustrate the procedure he is recommending. When patients understand their treatment alternatives, they can make informed decisions without feeling pressure. They also follow through with post-operative instructions because they were involved throughout the process.
As a kid, Dr. Micaletti had braces and his orthodontic team was fun, cohesive and very enthusiastic. It inspired him to research similar fields. Coming from a family with medical background and a strong religious foundation, Dr. Micaletti chose to attend dental school because he wanted to help others solve oral health problems. As he was exposed to different fields within dentistry he was drawn to periodontics because it gave him the opportunity to reconstruct what patients were missing this appealed to his detailed nature and meticulous personality.
He received his Doctor of Dental Science from Loyola University in Chicago and began practicing general dentistry at Grand Dentals original Franklin Park location. Later he returned to school to seek his degree in Periodontics and Implantology from Northwestern University. Continuing Education is critical to stay on top of available treatments and learn new skills. Most of his CE courses are in surgical areas so he can provide patients the highest standard of care.
Every single one of our dental professionals is a crucial member of the team here at Grand Dental Naperville. During your visits, youll see firsthand how kindhearted and dedicated they are to providing excellent dental care and teaching you how to maintain a healthy smile. If you have any questions or concerns, dont hesitate to talk to one of them!
