Since re-opening on June 1, 2020, we are happy to say we have remained COVID-free and we are confident this has been due to our diligent safety measures. Many of our patients have asked what steps weve implementedOur existing procedures can be found below:
Our team is passionate about and active in our Ellicott City community. Whether its at a local tennis tournament, volunteering at the Maryland SPCA, attending Orioles or Ravens games, or grabbing a bite at Honey Pig Korean BBQ, youre likely to run into us somewhere around town!
Our patients are our friends, neighbors, and family, so its only fitting that we treat you as such. We provide dental services to all ages, from your high-energy five-year-old to your parents and grandparents; and we strive to keep you feeling comfortable throughout any procedure.
This dedication to a family-oriented care extends to how we think of insurance too. We donate services to needy families, and we also do not participate in any HMOs. This is a reflection of our decision to step off, and stay off of whats known as the assembly line type of dental practice.
Dr. Kimberly Ford volunteers her services to multiple humanitarian organizations including Safari Dentist in Kenya, Hands Across the Americas in Peru, and Humanity First in Guatemala. In Kenya, Dr. Ford stayed in the middle of the Masai Mara and remains in awe of seeing lions, giraffes, cheetahs, and rhinos up close and in the wild. After graduating at the top of her class at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, Dr. Ford moved to Maryland in 1998. Although she enjoys traveling for dental volunteer work and for pleasure (Ireland and Costa Rica still compete for her favorite all-time spots), Dr. Fords love of Maryland always brings her back with a smile. After taking over the dental practice from Dr. Becker, she renamed it Ellicott Mills Dental.
Dr. Ford is an active tennis player and plays on teams in Howard, Baltimore and Anne Arundel counties. Although she has been to the US Open, Wimbledon, and the Laver Cup, attending the French and Australian Opens remain personal goals. Dr. Ford is a serious animal lover and has cared for cats, dogs, birds, fish and even horses throughout her life. She currently has two cats of her own and cares for cats and kittens through the Maryland SPCA foster program.
Steven H. Becker, DDS, enjoys yoga, racquetball, and snow skiing. Any one that knows him will tell you he is an avid Orioles and Ravens fan. Dr. Becker is also proud to adopt a family during the holidays. After graduating from the University of Maryland College of Dental Surgery, Dr. Becker opened his own dental practice in the early 1980s. He has since become a member of the American Dental Association, a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, and the Maryland Dental Implant Study Club. He is also a graduate of the Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education.
'An unbelievable amount of effort has been put in place to protect patients at the Ellicott Mills Dental Office. All the staff is friendly and professional. They take their time to explain what is going on and what they recommend with out pressure. Have gone to this office for years and recommend it to many. I had not been back for an embarrassing amount of time and Dr. Ford was just as wonderful as the first time I met her. If you are not happy with your current dental practice please give this office a try.'
'Ellicott Mills Dental has always been THE BEST. I have been with EMD for about 10 years and have never been disappointed! I was very impressed with how they are handling the office during the pandemic. They have everything running very smoothly and safely!'
We are excited to welcome you to the Ellicott Mills Dental family! We are a locally owned practice that has been serving the Ellicott City community since 1983. Our doctors, hygienists and staff are passionate about helping you achieve and maintain a healthy smile for life. Your comfort, health, safety and satisfaction with your visit is our top priority and the key to our success.
A typical new patient evaluation takes about an hour. We ask that you come in about 15 minutes earlier to fill out the new patient forms. You can download them and fill them out at home to save you some time.
Ellicott Mills Dental started out in 1983 as Smiles By Becker. In 2019 our name changed to Ellicott Mills Dental, but the level of care and treatment we provide remained the same. Dr. Becker is still here alongside Dr. Ford.
Dr. Ford takes time to fully explain my dental needs and inspires my trust in her advice. She and her assistants make even difficult dental procedures bearable. And the staff is always efficient and pleasant.
I was so glad when I found out that this practice accepted my new insurance (through my employer)! I'd seen Dr. Ford previously and had been wowed by the service she and the rest of the staff provide. Needless to say, I was eager to come back--especially since I have a lot of work to be done!
Dr. Ford saw me on short notice for a fractured tooth. She communicated effectively regarding my long term options and provided me with an immediate short term solution. The office invests in modern technology and equipment and the staff are friendly and welcoming.
I will start this review by saying...I hate going to the dentist. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst way to spend an hour, I am a 12. However, Dr. Ford and Ellicott Mills Dental are infinitely professional and easy going. They arent pushy or aggressive...they are/were great. If you are like me, CHECK THEM OUT... the whole staff is great.
I called because I couldnt get into my usual dentist and I felt like I had an infection and I was in SO much pain. The front desk was super friendly and made it clear that it was a priority to get me in quickly and help figure out the problem and treat me for the pain. They got me in by the end of the day. When I arrived the staff was quick to greet me and they were friendly, quick and efficient. The office was very cute & clean. Dr Ford was great and figured out the problem quickly along with a solution. I was in and out fo the office within 30 minutes!
