Getting regular dental exams is part of a healthy oral hygiene routine. Along with brushing and flossing daily, attending scheduled dental exams can reduce the need for more expensive dental procedures later. Learning how to maintain good oral health can reduce the chance of cavities forming. Having annual exams and cleanings performed by a dentist is one of the best ways to keep teeth healthy. Annual dental x-rays can keep track of any changes and identify wisdom teeth early. Having wisdom teeth extracted can reduce complications and the risk of teeth crowding. When teeth crowd there is the possibility that braces will be needed at some point in the future. By keeping teeth clean and reducing the consumption of sugary foods, patients can decrease their chances of developing dental problems.

'I had a very broad lifestyle growing up, everything from herding sheep to being involved in every sport known. As an adolescent, I worked in the construction industry, farming, ranching and the education system. I have always had an appreciation for every walk of life, which I attribute to my parents and experiences growing up. When I am not at the office I love to spend time with my amazing wife and three kids. We run all over the area from game to game! If I can expose my children to the experiences I had growing up, I will feel it a success.
Through my experiences I have grown an appreciation for dentistry and what we do to help people with pain, overall health and nutrition, and their confidence. I love to meet and associate with people and learn about their passions, hobbies, families, successes, and struggles.

We have two wonderful children. Zach is a pharmacist in Arizona, and Kinze is married and a stay at home mom to our amazing grandchildren River Jane and Radford Brock. They live in Utah where her husband Steve is the director for Weber County. I love spending time with my family. The motto I live by is EVERY DAY IS A BETTER DAY.

Shanna received her Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene from Idaho State University in 1998 and has been in practice ever since. She found her dental home at Bright Side Dental in 2013 while covering a shift for another hygienist. She immediately fell in love with the upbeat atmosphere and friendly staff and determined that, if a permanent position ever opened for her, she would take it. She happily joined the team a couple years later.
Shanna has spent the majority of her life in nearby Ririe, and is now raising her six children in the home where she was raised. She and her husband enjoy swapping goofy memes as a substitute for the romantic dates of their pre-child years. They have become experts in flexible parenting as they juggle the busyness of a large family with the special needs of their teenage son who has level 3 autism. Shanna loves music, playing the piano, and singing with her family. In her free time, she also plays with yarn - generally in the form of crocheting or knitting.
Working in the Rigby area and serving many community members she has known all her life has been the highlight of Shanna's career. She loves helping all of her patients, but has a special soft spot for those who struggle with dental anxiety or other special needs.
