Our staff continually invests in continuing education, focusing on cosmetic dentistry and complex restorative cases including the replacement of teeth with dental implants. Here at Curtiss Dentistry, we use state-of-the-art equipment and the most up-to-date technologies to obtain the best treatment outcomes possible.
Dr. Curtiss is a 1975 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry and has studied extensively at the Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education, completing all six continuums. He is a charter member of the East Tennessee Pankey Study Club and has been an active member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry since 2004. Dr. Curtiss has completed the LSU School of Dentistry Comprehensive Continuum on Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry and has received training in oral conscious sedation from the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation. Dr. Curtiss also has extensive training in the areas of treatment planning and the restoration of dental implants.
Dr. Curtiss is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and is a member of the Southeast Academy of Prosthodontics. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Tennessee Dental Association, and a Past-President of the Second District Dental Society.
A native of Memphis, Jim and his wife, Susan, settled in Blount County in 1975 when Jim was the public heath dentist at the Blount County Health Department. They promptly fell in love with the community and put down roots when Dr. Curtiss opened his general dental practice in 1977. Jim and Susan, who met at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville during their undergraduate days, have been married for over 42 years and have two grown children and four grandchildren.

Patsy has enjoyed being part of the Curtiss Dentistry team since 1996. Patsy is a true 'people person' and enjoys developing a personal relationship with all of our patients. She spends her day assisting our patients with their insurance and financial questions. In her leisure time, Patsy enjoys spending time with her family.
Gwyn has been in dentistry since 2011 and earned her Expanded Function Dental Assistant certification in 2016. Gwyn loves making her patients feel comfortable and assisting Dr. Curtiss by placing fillings, taking final impressions and other expanded function duties. Gwyn has two cats and her hobbies are dancing (all genres) and painting. Gwyn loves to laugh and enjoy life.
Jenna has been practicing dental hygiene since 2016 and enjoys building relationships with her patients. Making sure her patients are comfortable and satisfied with their hygiene visits is always her goal. Jenna has called Maryville home her whole life. When not at work, she enjoys camping and dog walks with her husband Brady and their two kids, Bryson and Jovi.
Katie has been a dental hygienist since 2021. Katie is 'people person' and loves assisting her patients achieve their optimum oral health. When not at work, she loves music, dancing, and spending time with her husband, 3 dogs, family and friends.
