Dr. Dennis Sindel earned a BS in Psychology from The Ohio State University in 1978. Upon graduation, he was accepted and enrolled in The OSU College of Dentistry graduating in 1981. After graduation, he joined the United States Dental Corps as a General Dental Officer holding the rank of Lieutenant. He practiced General Dentistry for 7 years in Camp Lejeune, NC, Naval Base Subic Bay, Republic of the Philippines, then reported to Naval Base Charleston, SC.
In 1988 he was accepted to the prestigious graduate Prosthodontics Program at the National Naval Dental Center in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Sindel graduated with a Certificate in Prosthodontics in 1990. Following graduation, he transferred to the Naval Submarine Base Groton Ct. where he served as the Prosthodontic Department Head for 3 years attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
After his tour, he ended his commission in 1993 to join Dr. Bruce Elliott in private practice in Waterford, CT. His scope of practice includes all phases of Prosthodontics (crowns, bridges, veneers, implant restorations including full-arch reconstructions, partial and complete dentures) and general restorative dentistry. Besides practicing full-time, Dr. Sindel teaches Prosthodontics at the University Connecticut School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. McDonald is a 1979 graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine. He served on active duty in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps for 24 years retiring with the rank of Captain. After practicing as a dentist for ten years, Dr. McDonald went back to school full time for two years in an advanced training residency program at the National Naval Dental School, Bethesda, MD earning a certificate in Comprehensive Dentistry.
He is a Diplomat of both the American Board of General Dentistry (formerly the Federal Services Board of General Dentistry) and the Certifying Board of General Dentistry. He also was awarded Mastership status in the Academy of General Dentistry after completing over 700 hours of additional education and passing two rigorous examinations. Less than one percent of general dentists have achieved this level of advanced training.
Dr. McDonald continues to maintain his comprehensive skills through continuing dental education. Dr. McDonald grew up in southeastern Massachusetts. He graduated from St. Anselm College in Manchester, NH with a degree in Biology. He is married to the former Josephine Josie Jones of Westford, MA. They have three children; Mary Jo, Colleen and Alex. He is active in the local community of Groton. Sailing, shooting sports and fine wine are his primary hobbies.
Dr. Johndreau received her Doctor of Dental Surgery, with honors, in 2006 from Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, WI. After graduation, she served in the US Navy Dental Corps, 3rd Dental Battalion Okinawa, Japan. While overseas, she completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry. Dr. Johndreau conducted research at the prestigious National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, National Institute of Health, in Washington DC. In previous years, she provided volunteer dentistry with the University of Nebraska Childrens Dental Health in Lincoln and Gordon, Nebraska. She enjoys bringing vibrant smiles to all her patients through comprehensive dental treatment.
Outside of work Dr. Johndreau enjoys traveling, swimming, biking, hiking, and spending time with family and friends. She currently enjoys volunteering at her childrens school and in her church community.
Dr. Kumar is a very compassionate and self-motivated dentist. In India, she graduated with a Bachelors in Dentistry (2005) after which she pursued her dream of becoming an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in 2010. Her research topic was TMJ internal derangement and she wrote a library dissertation on implants. Successively, she practiced surgery in a tertiary care hospital setting for 5 years. Her article on third molars was published in the British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. After moving to San Francisco, she attended the University of California, School of Dentistry, and attained her DDS degree. Post graduation she briefly worked as a general dentist in Napa, California after which she moved to the east coast to continue practice.
