The Michigan Wolverines and Green Bay Packers are my two favorite teams. We have seven rescue cats that are our babies and they love to curl up with me and enjoy a good movie, or reading a good book.' ~ Brian

'We have added sleep dentistry to our wide array of treatment. It is fascinating how sleeping better can improve overall health. If you have a better night 's sleep it not only helps you to awake refreshed, but can lead to a healthier, longer life as cells rebuild and the body 'reboots ' during the REM sleep phases.'

'When not in the office I enjoy spending time in our garden, reading a book, hanging out with our cats, beading and creating some form of jewelry, or playing with my new Cricut making shirts, mugs or other fun crafts. I have also found I love photography and have some of my photos displayed in my office.'

Im so excited to be back at Nylaan Dental! I took a small break and went into Real-estate full time after getting my license in June 2018. While away I realized how much I missed the patients and team at Nylaan Dental. As well as how much I missed educating patients about dental health and over all health.'

I was born & raised in a small town in northern Michigan as 1 of 7 children. I am married to Brian with 3 daughters and 4 grandchildren which keeps us busy and brings tremendous joy along with 3 fur babies, 2 dogs & 1 cat. Currently, we are enjoying the refurbishing of a log cabin that was built by my father & grand-father in 1956.

As a child I experienced a 'very mean dentist' that caused extreme anxiety & fear in me. I vowed to myself that I would become a dentist and never treat anyone in that manner. I didn 't become a dentist because Dental Hygiene stole my heart. Helping & educating my patients to achieve and maintain good oral health while feeling comfortable & secure in the process is my #1 goal. Dental hygiene is an extremely rewarding career for me.'

Giving back to my community is a priority. Family is #1 for me. I also enjoy anything outdoors from gardening to fishing to trail riding and bonfires. I love adventures and I also enjoy to cook, and do stained glass as a hobby. ~ Susan

I am so excited to be able to share with my patients a new biologically aware way of thinking about their oral health. I look forward to every patient and every day as I start this journey with Dr Nylaan and his fantastic staff.'

'My husband and I are the proud parents of 3 adult children and, this past year, have celebrated the birth of our first Grandchild! When I am not in the office, my husband and I love to spend time at our trailer up north, fishing, hiking, swimming, 4 wheeling and just being out in nature.' ~ Kathy

'Outside of dental hygiene, music is a huge passion of mine. Nothing is more relaxing than sitting at a pianoplaying and singing a song. My husband, Kyle is also into music. It is something we both loveto do together. I also love to snuggle up with my dog and cat and read a great book. Kyle and I are proud parents of Hayden. Our darling little girl. '

I will be transitioning out of dental hygiene for the time being and moving into the music ministry at my church. This decision has not been easy to make, but I definitelyfeel the call to move in this new direction. Sarah received her Associates Degree in Applied Science from Kalamazoo Valley Community College. She received her Nitrous Oxide Sedation license, Anesthesia certification and her RDH license in the State of Michigan.

'I became a dental hygienist because I am given the opportunity everyday to work with people on improving their smile. One of the first things I notice about someone is their smile and their teeth. I have always had a fascination with teeth. Educating patients about oral health and providing different home care methods to help maintain a healthy smile is what makes me believe I am making a positive impact in the community. I love establishing relationships with patients and being able to measure their progress and improvements through regular visits.'

For your first visit to our dental office we perform a Complete Evaluation before any other treatment is performed. As part of our philosophy to be complete and thorough with all of our patients, we do not schedule cleanings before an adult patient has a complete exam because having a cleaning is treatment and we believe our patients deserve to be properly and thoroughly diagnosed before any treatment is performed.

  • Child Cleaning and Exam Although every child is unique, the first professional cleaning should happen around the age of 3 years. X-rays will be taken as needed and tolerated. A thorough cleaning will be done. A fluoride treatment will be given and specific oral hygiene instructions will be covered.
