Dr. Kurt Bowers was born and raised in Bloomington, the son of local educators and coaches James and JoAnn Bowers. He received his bachelors degree from the University of Iowa in 1987, and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Iowa in 1991. He completed a residency in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics from the University of Iowa in 1993, receiving both a masters degree as well as a certificate in the specialty of orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics.
Dr. Bowers returned to his hometown of Bloomington to begin practicing orthodontics in 1993. He and his wife, Dr. Stephanie Hanneman Bowers, were married in 1994, and practiced together for several years. Dr. Hanneman Bowers is now a consultant to the practice.
Together, the Bowers have two teenage children and reside in rural Bloomington. In his spare time, Dr. Kurt enjoys training for and competing in triathlons, scuba diving, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Stephanie Hanneman Bowers was born and raised in eastern Iowa and is the daughter of Dr. Ronald Hanneman, a retired orthodontist, and Joanne Hanneman, a retired dental hygienist. She is a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and completed her residency in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics in 1994. Although not actively practicing clinical orthodontics on a daily basis, Dr. Hanneman Bowers remains a full-time consultant to the practice.

My dental assisting career began in 1980. Ive spent the past 16 years with Dr. Bowers. My husband, Tim, and I have been married 34 years. We have two grown children, a son-in-law, daughter-in-law,two granddaughters, one grandsonand two dogs. My most enjoyable times are spent with my family and friends and especially with my grandchildren who keep me busy playing games, building tents, baking cookies, and anything else they come up with! I also enjoy landscaping, bicycling and taking trips with Tim.
I have worked in the dental field for 26 years with the past 16 years in orthodontics.I havea 14 yr. olddaughter and three dogs. In my spare time I like to walk my dogs, work in the yard and watch my daughter play sports Most of my time is spent at the softball field or driving to softball tournaments for my daughter's travel team.
I joined the orthodontic field in May 2012 when I was welcomed into Bowers Orthodontic Specialists. I love watching our patients making progress.I have a son, Jack and two dogs that keep my heart full.I enjoy spending time with my family. Eventually, I plan on completing a full Ironman triathlon.
I have worked at Bowers Orthodontic Specialists for just over9 years now. Ive been married to my husband Al, for31 years. Al and I have three grown children, and have added two son-in-laws. A daughter and son-in-law in Des Moines, IA, a daughter and son-in-law in Phoenix, AZ and a son who is a Captain in the Army.In my spare time I love to watch sports and visit our children. My other love is traveling. We are excited to plan some adventures.
Ive worked for Dr. Bowers foreight years. My husband, Bill and I, have been married for 33 years, and we have two grown sons. Our youngest son is currently in college. Our oldest son graduated from college and is currently working and living in California. In my spare time I like to cook, read and travel to California to visit our son.
I have worked as an orthodontic assistant for Dr. Bowers for11 years, but have been in the dental field for 24 years. I am happily married to my husband Shane. We have three amazing children, Peyton, Jaycee and Ty. What I enjoy most in life is spending time with my family and attending my childrens sporting events and activities.
I have worked for Dr. Bowers for 14 years. My husband, Chris and I have been married11 years. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. In my spare time I like to play tennis and golf and just enjoy the outdoors.
