The Barco Family Dentistry team firmly believes that our dedication to providing support for our neighbors in Bloomington and surrounding communities shouldnt end when we shut the office doors for the day. Thats why were dedicated to giving back to the community. We proudly support and volunteer with numerous charitable organizations, churches, local schools, and youth programs. Two of the organizations we work with regularly are the Martinsville United Methodist Church and the South Central Soccer Academy.
Dr. Barco is originally from Martinsville, but he has been connected to the Bloomington area for over 20 years. He attended Northwestern University before serving four years as an officer in the United States Marine Corps. After his service in the Marines, Dr. Barco started dental school at the University of North Carolina. He completed his General Practice Residency at Indiana University and has been busy helping patients achieve and maintain excellent oral health ever since.
The practice of dentistry runs in Dr. Barcos family. His father was a dentist in the U.S. Navy for over 25 years, during which Dr. Barco had the opportunity to live all over the world -- from Washington State to the Philippine Islands and even right here in Bloomington from 1995 to 2006.
Today, Dr. Barco is committed to providing superior dental care for friends and families around Bloomington. He was pleased to return to the area with his growing family in 2009 to begin practicing dentistry. Dr. Barco is a member of the American Dental Association, the Indiana Dental Association, the Southern Indiana Dental Association, and the Spear Dental Study Club in Bloomington. He enjoys helping people smile brighter through his work!
Dr. Barco and his wife Amy have four children named Martin, Laura, Henry, and Robert. His hobbies outside of the office include running, hiking, learning about history, reading, traveling, and coaching youth soccer.
Liberty joined our team in 2014, she works hard to ensure all of her patients are comfortable, understand their dental treatment options, and feel at ease throughout their dental care. Liberty completed the expanded functions dental assisting program at Ivy Tech Community College. Originally from Ellettsville, IN, Liberty is married, she and her husband are the proud parents of a beautiful baby girl named Reese. When shes not hard at work with our team, Liberty enjoys fishing and spending time with family.
Shelly is dedicated to developing lifelong relationships with all of the patients she treats. For nearly three decades, Shelly has worked hard to provide patients with the knowledge and skills they need to achieve and maintain healthy smiles. She has worked with patients in our office for nearly a decade to plan for and achieve their long-term dental health goals. Shelly studied at the Indiana University School of Dentistry where she earned her associate of science degree in dental hygiene. Outside the office, Shelly enjoys spending time with family, especially with her grandchildren, gardening, and traveling.
Nicole may be a new member of our team, but her experience in the dental field spans well over a full decade! Born and raised in Ellettsville, she attended Ivy Tech Community College for her education. She loves thats able to provide excellence customer service and ensure that patients are receiving the dedicated, high-quality treatment they deserve. At home, Nicole has a boyfriend named Jagger and three kiddos named Trinity, Elijah, and Abel. In her free time, she enjoys being with family, weight training/lifting, fishing, and attending church. Her favorite quote is look for something positive in each day, even if some days, you have to look a little harder.
