Dr. Gerald Brown is a Winchester family dentist with more than 30 years of experience in the field of dentistry. Since founding Amherst Dental Practice in 1987, he has provided exceptional preventative and restorative dental care at affordable rates. Dr. Brown is proud to offer the latest technology to ensure that his patients receive the highest quality care in a comfortable atmosphere.
Dr. Brown was born in Houma, Louisiana into a military family that traveled all over the world until settling in Falls Church, Virginia. He graduated from Annandale High School and The College of William and Mary, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He then received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia in 1986. After graduation, he practiced in Oakton, Virginia for one year and then moved to Winchester where he established his private practice.
Dr. Brown currently resides in Winchester with his wife and three daughters. Outside of his practice, Dr. Brown enjoys participating in marathons and Ironman triathlons as well as many other shorter distance events. He strives for a healthy lifestyle and enjoys cooking for his family, as well as traveling and spending time with family dogs Neisha, Bitsy, Lola and Maggie.
The entire Brown family places high importance on community involvement, volunteering countless hours to support local charities such as The Free Medical Clinic, The Laurel Center for Women and Children, The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), and The Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival. Dr. Brown has also volunteered with the Free Medical Clinic and Donated Dental Services of Virginia.

Cat has lived in the Winchester area for 22 years and has worked in the dental industry for 16 years. Cat rejoined our team in December 2021. She is a mom and grandmother and truly believes family is above all the most important in life. An interesting fun fact about Cat is that she is left-handed, the only one on our team. In her free time, she loves to travel, photograph, garden, craft, watch wildlife, play with her dog, and spend time with family.
Gabby was born in Colorado Springs, CO, and moved to Winchester 25 years ago. She has been a wonderful member of our team since December 2021. Before joining the dental industry, she was a Veterinary Technician which was helpful with her love of animals as she has 3 dogs and 25 chickens. Her job brings her joy when she sees a beautifully restored smile on a patient who was previously too embarrassed to smile at all!
Karen was born and raised in Winchester. Karen has strengthened our team since September 2016 and has an accumulative 30 years of dental industry experience. She is a very outgoing person who loves to socialize with just about everyone she meets! There truly is never a dull moment in her life. She loves to spend time with her husband and grandson around their pool or at his sports games. Through the years, the most valuable thing she has learned is to never judge a book by its cover.
Laura has lived in the Winchester area her whole life. She and her bubbly personality joined our team in November 2020, bringing with her 12 years of dental experience. Laura describes her job as rewarding, interesting, and reliable. Her favorite thing about her job is the rapport and relationships she builds with her patients. When not working, Laura enjoys archery with her daughter or playing with her 2 dogs. Many people would not know this about Laura, but she has been to 13 countries, ____ being her favorite.
Trilby was born and raised in Winchester. Although she has worked for Amherst Dental Practice for 10 years, she took over as office manager in April 2021. She is a dual degree graduate of Virginia Tech, with degrees in Marketing and Hospitality & Tourism Management. In her free time, she loves to cook, bake, craft, fish with her fianc, spend time with family and friends, and spoil her 2 dogs. One thing Trilby has found to be tried and true is that kindness is never overrated.
