Dr. Matt was raised in Berwick, Pennsylvania. When he was 8 years old, his aunt needed all her teeth extracted, which allowedhim to witness the changes in her quality of life, including her inability to speak or eat healthy foods. Dr. Matt was intrigued and began a mentorship with his general dentist at the time, and that inspiredhis dental career at a young age.
While earning his undergraduate degree in biology at Susquehanna University, Dr. Matt was a four-year letterman for the Crusader basketball team. He attended Temple Universitys Martin Kronberg School of Dentistry, the second oldest dental school, where he earned a scholarship with the United States Air Force.
Following graduation from dental school, Dr. Matt attended Officer Training School, where he earned the rank of Captain and was appointed Vice Commander. In 2001, Dr. Matt completed a one-year residency in advanced education in general dentistry, during which he spenthis time being individually trained by board-certified specialists in oral surgery, periodontics, prosthodontics, and endodontics. During his serviceat Kessler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, he was honored as the chief resident and awarded his anesthesia credentials, which enabledhim to provide both sedation and surgical care to his patients.
Dr. Matt furthered his surgical skills on a humanitarian mission to Guatemala with a team of physicians in 2003. Hespent the next two years honing his dental and surfing skills in Santa Barbara, California while stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base.
Dr. Matt was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 2004, and returnedto the east coast to work at several large dental practices throughout the state of New Hampshire, focusedon digital dentistry, wisdom tooth extraction, and grafting and implant procedures.
In 2008, Dr. Matt decided he wanted to practice closer to his home on the coast, so he openedAbenaki Dental Care in Exeter, whichallowedhim to provide comprehensive dental care to the local community.
Dr. Matt furthered his education in 2012, when he completed a surgical fellowship in implant dentistry with world-renowned implant expert Dr. Carl E. Misch in Orlando, Florida. He achieved fellow status at the Misch International Implant Instituteand was inducted into both the Implant Prosthetic and Surgical sections of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
In 2016, Dr. Matt completed a mini-residency at the Craniofacial Pain Center at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, expanding his knowledge on TMJ disorders and sleep apnea. He now works closely with local sleep specialists to develop solutions for our CPAP-intolerant patients.
My profession is my passion. I have such respect for the field of dentistry and its importance to public health. That passion is centered on the patient experience: I am most excited to exceed patient expectations in comfort and results, with each procedure and every interaction.
I have practiced dentistry since 2017; I chose the oral healthcare field because of my father, Dr. John, who has practiced since 1985. Even at a young age, I could sense how impactful he was on the southern New Hampshire community where my brothers and I grew up.
That said, the most rewarding aspect of my career is the relationships I build with families in this community. I love getting to know each patient as an individual: developing a trusting bond and appreciating how each conversation enriches my life.
I attended the College of the Holy Cross, in Worcester, Massachusetts, where I received my Bachelor of Science in biology. After graduating, I was accepted at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where I was awarded my Doctorate of Dental Medicine.

I am committed to constantly seeking to broaden and strengthen my capabilities. Through continuing education (CE) seminars, meetings, lectures, and online courses I learn from the leaders in the field.
I have completed advanced, postdoctorate training and am now a provider of Invisalign clear aligners, as well as CEREC single-visit restorations. Annually, I complete many hours of continuing education courses and am a member of CEREC Doctors and Invisalign.
I grew up in Londonderry and now reside in Dover with my wife, Katie, and our daughter, Daphne. Time with them, as well as my father, Dr. John, and mother, Karen, and my brothers, sister-in-law, and nieces, is a priority when Im not at the office.
As a proud New Hampshire native, it is in my fabric to help my community grow. It is beyond important to me that I am an active member of the southern New Hampshire area, to promoteand supportlocal businesses and education.
I have been blessed to be a dentist for nearly35years. I have watched the children of some of my early patients have children and bring them to me for care. These generational relationships, and the continuity of strengthening those connections at regular visits, mean the world to me.
I began practicing in 1985, drawn to the profession as a way to help people lead healthier and happier lives. I appreciate the intricate details of dentistry, the need to design treatment to each persons specific concerns, and most of all the relationships that naturally develop.
Professionally, I am particularly interested in crowns and bridges, as well as removable prosthodontics. Restoring stability and function allows a person to eat the foods they love, and gives them the confidence to smile.
I completed my undergraduate studies, culminating in a Bachelor of Arts degree, at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts.Then I attended Georgetown Dental University, where I was awarded my Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
In the years since I finished dental school and entered into private practice, there have been remarkable changes in dentistry. We now utilize revolutionary technologies, wholly new methodologies, and advanced materials. These research-driven developments improve diagnostics, treatment, and results, while making procedures more comfortable and efficient.
As an active member of the American Dental Association, New Hampshire Dental Society, and Granite State Study Club, I have access to the latest information. Taking courses, and attending meetings, lectures, and seminars, ensures I am current on the newest options and able to incorporate the best into patient care.
Karen, my wife, and I were married in 1982. We have three sons: Ryan, Cory, and Timothy (Dr. Tim). Ryan and his wife, Kate, have two beautiful daughters, Celeste and Noelle; Dr. Tim and his wife, Katie, have a beautiful daughter, Daphne.
I have always felt it is essential to give back to and strengthen the community. I have been a board member of the Derry Boys and Girls Club since 1985 and am proud of children we have assisted. The organization serves more than2,500 children a year, regardless of their familys financial abilities. It is very important to me that we keep all of these services affordable, and to offer a safe and nurturing place where kids are part of a caring community.
In addition to my work with the Derry Boys and Girls Club, coaching has been a large part of my life. I enjoyed coaching recreational and Little League programs in Londonderry. I was also an assistant varsity football coach at Bishop Guertin for 18 years, and an active member of the Holy Cross Varsity Club.
